Nana’s Hot Fudge Sauce: a thick rich chocolate fudge sauce that makes everything sweeter.
This is an absolute favorite family recipe. It comes from my great grandma and has sweetened our family for generations. It’s the best to sprinkle or drown over ice cream, use in mud pies or our favorite place inside of crepes.
This is the simplest recipe and can all be done right in the microwave. It takes maybe 20 minutes to make and lasts, usually not long around my family.
Ingredients
- 1/2 c butter
- 6 squares of baking chocolate
- 1/4 c cocoa
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 1 (13 oz) can Evaporated milk
Instructions
- Melt butter and baking chocolate in the microwave.
- Add sugar and cocoa.
- Add milk and then heat in increments of 3 minutes until thick.
- (Heat and stir, don't stop until it thickens.)
As a child we would take spoonfuls out of the hot fudge bowl in the fridge. It was just as good cold as it was hot. Now as an adult I love to bottle them up and share them with friends and neighbors during the holiday season.
Try it with Peppermint ice cream, crepes, or just a spoonful. You will be hooked.
