A few years ago my husband taught the high school seniors in Sunday school at church. Every time he taught he brought a different treat, churro cheesecake bars, s’more cookies, Nutella cinnamon rolls or slutty cheesecake bars. You can imagine the crowd that would gather on the week’s he would teach. He would take requests, but nothing was more raved about than these slutty cheesecake bars.

Gingersnaps remind me so much of my childhood. My mom was never one to store treats in our home, now that I am a mom I know why- because I eat them. But there is one treat that you could always find at our house in the bottom shelf of the pantry, gingersnaps. These were store bought, small hard cookies. Maybe you remember them? The kind that scratch the roof of your mouth if you take too big of a bite. There was something about the flavor that made everyone sneak a couple of cookies from the cupboard.

Blueberry Dessert

Blueberry Desert: graham cracker crust, cheesecake topped with blueberry pie filling.

 

A Teaspoon of HomeNothing reminds me more of my Grandma Bevan than this dessert.  As a child I would scrape off all of the blueberries onto the side of my plate and funny thing, I still scrape them off before I take a bite. I love all the flavor burst in such simple dessert. This was a regular treat at grandmas, probably because it is so easy to make. Making it for my family brought back so many great memories.
