Ronald Reagan once said “all great change in America begins at the dinner table.” I honestly believe that to be true. Dinner time has always been sacred family time in my home. We discuss the events of our day, share funny stories, talk about dreams and realities and rally around family members in times of need. All great things in my life began around the kitchen table.
As I have begun my own family, sitting around the dinner table has been a priority. I want to create a sacred place where my children and spouse can feel safe to share the highs and lows of each day. A place where we can celebrate success together and rally around one another.
Looking back on my life I realize that most of my memories are centered around food and family. So to keep a record of those sweet memories, I have created A Teaspoon of Home. I hope it will be a resource for myself and anyone else hosting a dinner party or a simple family meal.
This blog will mainly be a resource for you. You can use as much or as little as you’d like. Here’s how it will work: Each day I will post a dish from the menu (entrée, sides, and dessert). Then I will share with you the memory associated with that food/menu. I will also include a shopping list so you can pick up everything for the meal in one stop- if you don’t need something, simply cross it off the list. As time goes on you can look through my meals or browse for individual recipes.
My experience with meal preparation has been very time consuming. I am constantly looking through cookbooks, blogs and Pinterest for meals that go well together, but there is never a one stop shop for meal planning.
I hope that I can encourage others to try to change the world by sharing meals at the dinner table. Whether you are hosting a dinner party or upgrading your meal planning A Teaspoon of Home will jumpstart your tabletop memories.
This is awesome Em! Cant wait to try your recipes.
Thanks! I can’t wait to have the resources this should supply.
This is such a great idea! I am so excited to see what you post. I love it!
