Friday Faves: Baby Preparation
I almost feel guilty for my lack of preparation for my baby number three. With my first baby I was overjoyed to become a mother and everything about the experience was thrilling. I remember knowing exactly how far along I was always; 14 weeks and 3 days. We bought new clothes, furniture and toys. I made him several quilts and receiving blankets, carseat covers and burp cloths. I think the nursery was ready 4 months before his arrival.
Our second was a girl and so that news was thrilling! I immediately began working on quilts and receiving blankets for her and added clothing to the mix. Everything about having a girl was exciting and we loaded her closet and drawers with the most stylish things. I had always dreamt of becoming a mother to a girl, coming from a house full of boys. So this was literally a dream come true.
While pregnant with our little girl I had a dream that we were going to have a baby boy. He was absolutely beautiful and we named him William. Although we were shocked to find out we weren’t having a boy, we knew little Will would join our family sooner or later. It was no surprise when this time around we discovered we were expecting a boy.
However, this time around we have all of the baby things, furniture, accessories and even clothes. It was just this week, a month before his arrival that I finished his baby quilt and finally pulled out all of our baby things to prepare for his arrival. I know that showing and selling our home had something to do with it, but still I feel a bit guilty delaying so long.
So this week as I finished his baby quilt I felt like I am now officially mentally prepared for his arrival. I know it will bring chaos to our home in the midst of moving and the challenges of change that comes to my other kids but I’m ready and so excited to meet him. So here’s to bringing up baby!
