Gingerbread French Toast: a traditional breakfast with a Christmas taste.
At our house Christmas, breakfast is always a feast! Christmas quiche, sunshine rings, fruit, and gingerbread french toast. I love making gingerbread french toast because they are small portions making you feel like you can eat a little and still have room for all of the other fabulous things.
These literally take 15 minutes to make from start to finish! Using one baguette I can use the entire recipe, but you can easily double it depending on the crowd. This will be a dish that everyone will love! It is like Christmas in a bite.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 c heavy cream
- 1/4 c milk
- 1 t mixed spices (cinnamon, ginger or cloves)
- French baguette
- 3 T butter for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl whisk the eggs, milk, cream and spices until well combined.
- Slice the baguette into 1inch thick slices.
- Melt the butter in a frying pan.
- Dip each bread slice in the batter and add them to the pan.
- Cook until nice and golden (1-2 min)
- Flip each bread slice over and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden.
You can add fancy toppings or just add syrup. ThisĀ is something that is never passed by in our home.
