Friday Faves: Rearranging furniture for a fresh new start
I hope I’m not the only one who is completely over winter! I don’t think it’s too bad when you are working and can get out of the house for most of the day, but as a stay at home (pregnant) mom of two, it’s getting a little old.
Don’t get me wrong, I love doing activities with my children, but going anywhere in the winter time takes 20 minutes just to load up in the car. Then if you are doing anything outside, you can be sure to add an extra 2o minutes to put on all of their layers. The worst part about that is that after they are all bundled up they last 10 minutes outside and you wonder why you even tried.
We make messes and clean them up all day, everyday and it’s making my organizational self a little crazy. So this week I decided to shake things up a bit. I moved furniture and toys around a little bit and shook my kids right out of our rut. Now everyday they are excited to play in their new spaces and are enjoying toys they haven’t looked at in months.
I too am enjoying the quiet independent play rather than constant nagging for another show. Best part is that we don’t even have to leave our house, or put on warm clothes to enjoy it. My kids have been playing well together and even proud of their new space so they willingly help clean up after themselves. It has been a simple, but much needed change in our home. Maybe it will buy me a few more months of sanity.
