Who doesn’t love bread, especially at the dinner table? This Basil Swirl Bread has a blend of basil, olive oil, garlic and Parmesan cheese baked in a bundt. This is a treat that everyone will enjoy!

- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup mashed potatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup scalded milk
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt

- Dissolve yeast in warm water (add 1t. sugar).
- In a separate bowl, mix liquid ingredients.
- Add yeast once it’s doubled in size and mix in dry ingredients (add our slowly).
- Let dough double in size (about 45 minutes).
- Roll out dough into a large rectangle.
- Mix the olive oil, basil and garlic salt. Then baste the rectangular dough.
- Top dough with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Roll the dough across the long side of the rectangle. Place seam side down in a prepared 10-12 cup Bundt pan; pinching the ends to seal
- Cover and let rise again until it has doubled in size. (about 30 minutes)
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35-45 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.
- Remove from pan; cool completely on rack.
I love making this with my basic roll dough. If you’re in a bind or bread intimidates you, use a thawed/frozen bread dough loaf. It is really simple to make and disappears in a flash. Once your dough is ready, you roll it out, baste with olive oil and season. Then you roll it up and place it in the bundt pan to rise. Then bake and enjoy!
